Video Marketing isn’t exactly new in its own right, but it’s only recently that businesses have realised its true potential. Use of videos in marketing is exploding, with 63% of businesses using it as a means of generating leads. Over 60% of those businesses were not using video only a few years ago.
What does this mean? If this had been a short-term statistic, the number going up and then settling again, it might have been written off as a fad. But the numbers are still increasing, and holding the massive influx of interest they’ve had in recent years. That points to video marketing providing a solid return on investment for those businesses that tried it.
No need to take my word for it though. 83% of those businesses mentioned in the survey also said they believed it gave them a good ROI.
So what does video have that can be such an asset? Quite a few things, actually.
1. Video Boosts Conversions and Sales
This is the bottom line. Or rather, the impact on your bottom line. Marketing videos can make you money. Adding a product video on your landing page can increase conversions by 80%.
So product videos are one thing, but videos can also lead directly to sales. Studies show that 74% of users who watched an explainer-video about a product subsequently bought it. With these stats in mind, the investment in video begins to make a lot more sense.
Video’s effectiveness isn’t really all that surprising psychologically. Vision is our most dominant sense. Most of the information we send to our brain is visual. So if pictures can boost engagement massively, imagine what moving pictures can do to your business.
2. Video Shows Great ROI
Now if you really want to feel good about the future of your business, 83% of businesses say that video provides good return on investment. Explainer videos in particular work well. 81% of businesses that have used an explainer video, say it directly increased sales! Despite video production requiring a solid investment, it pays off spectacularly.
3. Video Builds Trust
Trust is how you earn conversions and sales. Being a trusted business is a goal in its own right, with a myriad of rewards from direct sales to word of mouth endorsement. This is the mantra of content marketing.
Stop selling and let the people come to you by providing them interesting and useful information. If your audience is engaged, is interested and is sharing your content, your sales should come to you.
Nothing does engagement like video content. It’s far more likely to engage us and ignite emotions. It’s also more likely to capture the interest of people with large networks of their own. In the social media marketplace, persuading one person can mean persuading thousands after they share or even endorse it.
Promotional videos are also key to fostering trust. Some among your audience are still skeptical about buying products and services on the internet because they fear being cheated. But engaging marketing videos present your products in a conversational style. This sense of individuality and of talking to a real person is why 57% of consumers say that videos gave them more confidence to purchase online.
4. Google Loves Videos
Finally, we have Google. Everyone wants their website to rank higher in a search, but even when you’re throwing all you have at Search Engine Optimisation, often your competition is keeping pace.
Videos allow you to increase the time spent by visitors on your site. This longer exposure displays trust and shows search engines that your site has good content. Moovly gives us some impressive statistics: You’re 53 times more likely show up first on Google if you have a video embedded on your website. Not 53% more, 53x more.
So if your competition is using video, you really need to be matching speed. And if they aren’t using video? You just came across a way to supplant them and secure the top search results for yourself!
